Samui Location for photo shoot: Thong Krut Beach
Date of publication: 05 Aug 2017 | Updated: 10 Jul 2023The Tong Krut Beach, located on the southwest coast of Koh Samui, offers unique opportunities for photoshoots. This deserted beach stands out with its exceptionally low water level, stretching far from the shore, creating stunning possibilities for capturing unique shots on vast expanses that seem endless.
Beach Features
Water Level and Beach Accessibility
One of the key factors to consider when planning a photoshoot at Tong Krut Beach is the fluctuating water level throughout the year. It should be noted that the water recedes from March to April and returns in October to November. Therefore, from November to March, the beach will have only a narrow strip of water. However, to ensure the current condition of the beach, I recommend consulting with me as a local photographer or checking the up-to-date information on-site.
The low water level at Tong Krut Beach offers unique opportunities for "walking on water" shots. When the water recedes, interesting shots can be captured where people appear to be "floating" in the air against the backdrop of the secluded beach. This adds an element of playfulness and imagination to your photographs.
IMPORTANT:
The water recedes in March-April and rises again in October-November. Meaning, the beach is definitely not accessible from December to March.
Deserted Beach with Few People
One of the main advantages of Tong Krut Beach is its solitude. Thanks to its desert-like nature, there are hardly any people on the beach, allowing you to create an atmosphere of seclusion and intimacy in your photos. This is particularly important for couples or family photoshoots, where the focus should be on the main subjects of the frame.
Expanses and Views
The panoramic shots at Tong Krut Beach are simply breathtaking. The vast, unobstructed space provides ideal conditions for capturing the full scale of the beach and its surrounding nature. The photographs taken on this beach will impress with their beauty and uniqueness. Additionally, the constant breeze at Tong Krut Beach keeps it refreshingly cool and comfortable for photoshoots. This is especially pleasant on hot days when the wind brings a slight relief and helps create dynamic and vibrant shots.
The surrounding islands near the beach add even more appeal to the location. Beautiful islands located close to Tong Krut Beach become a wonderful complement to your shots. Their presence on the horizon creates a magical atmosphere and makes the photographs even more captivating and unique.
