Finding the right evening for our session took a little patience. After an initial postponement because Vihaan caught a cold, sudden bad weather forced us to push the shoot by another day. Dipika and Vihaan were wonderfully flexible, and we easily locked in the following clear evening.
At 17, Vihaan has a naturally reserved, intense expression – what his mom affectionately calls her "angry bird" – along with his own clear ideas of how he wants to be perceived.
Connecting with teenage boys on their own terms is something I genuinely enjoy. With my own son being around the same age, I understand how young guys think and feel.
They don't want to be talked down to or forced into artificial poses. We kept our conversation direct, relaxed, and focused on building professional portfolio frames that respected his natural look.
We divided the session into two deliberate aesthetics. We started with a sharp, formal style: tailored dark trousers and a crisp button-down shirt.
Positioned along the waterfront docks near the riverside restaurants, the monumental red steel beams of the 25 de Abril Bridge overhead provided an epic, graphic backdrop for structured editorial portraits.
Seeing his sharp jawline and natural camera presence on the display immediately set a confident tone. He saw right away that the camera captured his genuine intensity rather than an awkward pose.
Exploring individual styles is a central part of our photoshoots for teenagers in Lisbon, giving each young adult the space to create portraits that feel true to who they are.
For the second half of the session, Vihaan changed into a casual, relaxed look – denim jeans and a clean t-shirt.
We moved slightly away from the concrete bridge pilings and stepped into the green riverfront park nearby, where the setting sun began casting a rich, warm golden glow through the trees.
The contrast between the modern red suspension bridge and the lush green park foliage gave his modeling portfolio incredible versatility.
In casual wear, his posture became looser and more effortless, showcasing his versatility for agency casting from commercial lifestyle to high-fashion editorial.
As the golden hour peaked, the warm Portuguese sunlight softened his features beautifully.
That initial "angry bird" seriousness transformed into a confident, mature camera presence, proving that teenage boys don't need forced grins to look magnetic.
We captured full-length walking shots, relaxed three-quarter profiles, and close-up headshots as the sun dipped behind the bridge towers.
Every frame reflected a young man stepping into his own identity on the brink of adulthood.
By the end of the evening, both Vihaan and Dipika were overjoyed with the gallery. His mom even left a heartwarming Google review, thrilled that we captured both the polished young gentleman she loves and the cool, authentic teenager he is.
Be sure to explore his younger brother's vibrant session as well: Ayan's hip-hop dance photoshoot at Parque das Nações.
A successful teen photoshoot is all about mutual trust and respect. Helping a 17-year-old see his own strength, build a professional portfolio, and celebrate this milestone in Lisbon was an absolute honor.
