Natanya and Dean flew in from South Africa, Lisbon as a bright stop on their honeymoon. We met in the blue before sunrise at Sé de Lisboa. Quiet streets, cool stone, a bell or two somewhere far away. Two linen outfits that already matched the city, not by accident.

We warmed up beside the Church of Saint Anthony, then drifted downhill. A yellow tram slid into frame right on cue, small moment, big Lisbon energy. No crowds yet, only the sound of tracks and soft sneakers on calçada.

At Miradouro de Santa Luzia the city opened, tiles and vines waking up. Bougainvillea everywhere, that heavy purple, the kind that steals your attention and then gives it back to the faces. They sat on the parapet by the little fountain, shoulders touching, that first quiet laugh couples do when they realize the camera is close but not in the way. We worked the big azulejo wall, then a detail shot of their custom sneakers with their names, a tiny flex, a good one.

We crossed to Portas do Sol. The river went silver, roofs turned warm. Igreja de Santo Estêvão and Mosteiro de São Vicente de Fora anchored the skyline, so we let them sit in the background while the two of them moved, a slow walk, a turn, a kiss, nothing staged, just directed lightly. And then we let them be still. Sometimes still wins.

As the first tour groups appeared, we slipped into Alfama's narrow veins. Close walls made soft light, the clouds helped more, so portraits came out clean and dimensional. Tiles at arm's length, steps for breathing, and a couple of frames with eyes closed, because that is what happens when you are happy and the city hums around you.

Ninety minutes later we were done. 100+ final photos, color true to the morning, story intact from cathedral to river.

We shot at sunrise to keep it private and to own the best light. When people started to arrive, we switched to side streets. Linen and light neutrals worked with the palette of Alfama and never fought the scene. Easy shoes, always.
